How to choose, whatever you drive
Three facts from Ronin Factory apply to every truck:
- Shorter means weaker AM/FM. "The longer the antenna, the better strength." Ronin Factory's 12-inch flex gives "the most reception out of the sizes we sell," but "may not be as good of reception as the 36" long OEM antenna." Details: short antenna reception by length.
- Streaming and satellite aren't affected. Every Ronin Factory antenna "will not affect XM, Bluetooth or Satellite Radio." If you rarely use AM/FM, choose on looks: Do bullet antennas work for FM?
- SmartLock vs TuffLock. SmartLock is Ronin Factory's patented locking design (US Patent 12237563): the antenna slides over an adapter and a set screw installed with the included Allen key holds it on, so it can't be removed by hand without the key. Thread the set screw in until it lightly touches the adapter without any force, then back it off slightly. It also gets a UV-proof black finish. TuffLock is our original line, which is having its thread-lock phased out between 2025 and 2026. Our TuffLock antennas now use our Proprietary Black finish that will not fade in UV light. We started switching our TuffLock antennas from anodized finishes to this UV fade-proof black finish in August 2025. See Loctite vs a locking antenna.

Using the included Allen key, thread the set screw in until it lightly touches the adapter without any force, then back it off slightly. Install on a Jeep
Ronin Factory's TuffLock Jeep antennas are a "direct-thread fit" with no adapter. If a male end sticks up from the antenna base after you remove the stock mast, that's usually a leftover adapter from a previous aftermarket antenna, and it has to come out first. Ronin Factory explains it in Having an issue installing the Jeep antenna? SmartLock Jeep antennas use a Jeep SmartLock adapter, then lock with the set screw and included Allen key. Video: Jeep SmartLock instructions.
Theft & car wash
SmartLock needs the included Allen key to remove. All Jeep antennas are listed as "Carwash safe."
FAQ
What's the best short antenna for my truck?
It depends on how you listen. Ronin Factory's 12-inch SmartLock flex gives the most AM/FM reception of Ronin Factory's sizes, while the 5-inch SmartLock or SmartLock bullet suits drivers who mostly stream or use SiriusXM. Toyota owners can choose the 4-inch TuffLock or the TuffLock bullet.
Will it fit my year?
Ronin Factory lists Ford F-Series, Raptor and Lightning 1990-current and Bronco 2021+ (SmartLock), full-size Silverado and Sierra, RAM 1994-2018 and RAM 1500 Classic 2019+, Wrangler 2007-2023, Gladiator 2019-2023, and Tacoma and Tundra. Check the fitment checker for exclusions before you order.
Will I lose FM?
You'll likely get weaker AM/FM than with the roughly 36-inch factory antenna, and shorter sizes lose more. Ronin Factory's 12-inch flex gives the most reception of its sizes. XM, Bluetooth and satellite radio are not affected.
Is it car-wash safe?
Yes. Ronin Factory lists every one of its antennas as carwash safe.
How do I install it?
Unscrew the factory antenna, thread on the adapter if your antenna uses one, then install the Ronin Factory antenna. SmartLock antennas slide over the adapter and lock with a set screw using the included Allen key.
